About

Hello, I'm Janine

Welcome to the world of Dilys Treacle Treasures!

Dilys Treacle Treasures is a small (just me!) British independent greetings card and illustration company founded in 2009. I create quirky, unusual and colourful card designs, all of which start out as machine stitched illustrations, using fabrics, paper and card.

I enjoy creating unique designs, that will hopefully appeal to people who are looking for something different when they are choosing a card. I like to think the designs are a little bit curious and offer an interesting alternative option.

Dilys Treacle is the random made up name I gave to a small porcelain wren I bought at a jumble sale around three years ago! When I decided to start up my card design business in early 2009, I started using Dilys Treacle Treasures as a temporary name as I couldn't think of one, but it stuck and I now use a stitched Dilys Treacle bird as my logo.

I'm originally from Yeovil in Somerset, but I now live in Sheffield, near the city centre, but not far from the Peak District either, so I'm very lucky and have the best of both worlds. I currently work on my card designs from our tiny spare room, which is just big enough for a desk and sewing machine!

At the moment, I'm working mainly as a window dresser in the city centre, but am hoping that one day, designing cards will be my full time job! That is my dream for the future!

Here are some of my favourite interests, and things I love, in no particular order (and  for no reason whatsoever!)... Antique shops, charity shops, old music, 1940s nostalgia, parks, cake, Jarvis Cocker, plants and flowers, train stations, birds, my quotes book, craft fairs, singing, fields and trees, WW2, old buildings, 1950s, 1960s, curry, the seaside, village fetes and church halls, nice shoes, the London Underground, mosaics, dogs, reading, midcentury furniture, cats & dogs, good people, bric-a-brac, reminiscing, trinkets, garden centres, car boots, tea and biscuits, fish and chips, picnics, old photos, family trees and wine.

If you would like to read more of my random ramblings, and general stuff about what I'm up to you can find me at the following places -

Thank you for visiting my website. Please feel free to have a look round, there's stuff for sale in the shop, and I will be adding new things soon.  Drop by whenever you like, or send me a message to say hi!
